The minutes of the August 8 teleconference were approved. Steve to place in Shadow directories. 2. The IESG approved publication of INTERNET MESSAGE ACCESS PROTOCOL - VERSION 4 as a Proposed Standard. The IESG also approved publication of the following two documents as Informational RFCs: IMAP4 COMPATIBILITY WITH IMAP2BIS INTERNET MESSAGE ACCESS PROTOCOL - OBSOLETE SYNTAX Steve to send announcement. 3. The IESG approved publication of the MIME set as Draft Standards. The documents in this set are: MIME Part One: Format of Internet Message Bodies MIME Part Two: Media Types MIME Part Three: Message Header Extensions for Non-ASCII Text MIME Part Five: Conformance Criteria and Examples The IESG also approved publication of MIME Part Four: Registration Procedures as a BCP RFC. Steve to send announcement. It was noted that while there are multiple implementations of all the options, some are not widely used (if at all). The IESG approved the specifications, but noted that each option will be carefully examined prior to another standards track action. 4. The IESG deferred action on Internationalization of the HTML pending additional review. Will appear on next agenda. 5. The IESG approved publication of Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1 as a Proposed Standard. Steve to send announcement. 6. The IESG approved publication of A Proposed Extension to HTTP: Digest Access Authentication as a Proposed Standard. Steve to send announcement. 7. The IESG approved publication of Domain Name System Security Extensions as a Proposed Standard. Steve to send announcement. A number of editorial concerns were raised, though not serious enough to prevent approval. Jeff Schiller will convey these items to the author, noting that they should be resolved prior to submission for Draft Standard. 8. The IESG approved publication of The PPP Internetwork Packet Exchange Control Protocol as a Draft Standard. Steve to send announcement. 9. The IESG approved publication of Remote Authentication Dial In User Service as a Proposed Standard. The IESG also approved publication of RADIUS Accounting as an Informational RFC. The IESG gave tentative approval of INTERNET REGISTRY IP ALLOCATION GUIDELINES pending the conposition of text for the IESG comment which will include a sunset clause (point in future when document will reviewed. Once the IESG note is written, and each of the dissenters convey their acceptance, Steve will send announcement 12. The IESG approved publication of Entity Mib as a Proposed Standard. Steve to send announcement. 13. The IESG approved publication of Observations on the use of Components of the Class A Address Space within the Internet as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 14. The IESG approved two RTFM documents for publication as Experimental Protocols: o Traffic Flow Measurement: Architecture o Traffic Flow Measurement: Meter MIB 15. The IESG approved publication of UTF-8, a transformation format of Unicode and ISO 10646 as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 16. The IESG approved publication of Telnet CHARSET option as an Experimental Protocol. Steve to send announcement. 17. The IESG approved publication of Source directed access control on the Internet as an Informational RFC. Steve to send announcement. 18. The IESG approved the formation of the MBONE Deployment (mboned) WG in the Operational Requirements Area. 19. The IESG tentatively approved formation of the FTP Extensions (ftpext) WG in the Application Area. Charter is to be modified to include text addressing the problems of restarts and the use of IP addresses. When the ADs provide the text, Steve will review to ensure the required parts are included. If so, the WG will begin. 20. The IESG deferred action on the set of security related Internet-Drafts submitted for publication as Experimental RFCs. The consensus of the IESG was to coordinate actions on all other security-related documents. 21. The IESG will meet in the Santa Barbara on October 21-22. 22. Steve reported that the timeline for the San Jose part deux IETF meeting have been set. Will send critical dates to WG Chairs and the IESG. Steve reminded the IESG that a scheduling announcement will be sent to the IESG a week before being sent to the WG Chairs. This will (HOPEFULLY :-) assist in the development of Area tracks.
