An interesting idea, and I know you were rushed.  Here is a laundry list of
thoughts if you were going to keep working it.

In my experience, the concrete portion of a curb extends and forms a gutter in
the road.  Sort if a Z shape in stead of a 7.  In this gutter area dirt and
other debris accumulates, and it would have been nice to see this.  asphault
roads are often curved to cause water to flow into the gutter.  This might all
seem like a lot of attention on this one area, but there is not much else in
the image so it needs to look really nice.  A pothole or two might be nice as
well.  When I think deer, I think mountains.. and when I think mountains I
think roads that take a beating from weather.

The paint lines look raised, which is a nice touch.

The Sillouette of the deer is a bit static.  I would have raised the tail a bit
to break the outline and give more form to the deer.  Having the head slightly
turned so that the nose breaks the outline would have been a nice touch as
well.

The yellow of the headlights really dominate, and it would be interesting to try
and contrast this with a cool light like that of the moon.  Mixing some cool
blue into the black of the shadow areas would add a richness to the piece.  

More trees/bushes/something on the side of the road would have been great. 
Perhaps move the whole deer/road to the right a bit and add a sloaping hill
leading away from the road on the left with bushes and trees.

A good piece, and done in a very short timeframe.  A few more hours can make
this a very nice image.

A cute picture. Seems strange to see a curb. I would expect a more rural area
where deer go across the road.

At first, this seems to be a very powerful image.  But upon closer =
inspection, it shows the technical flaws inherent when you try to "rush =
this out in four days".  On the non-technical side, I question the =
wisdom of placing the car so close to the deer: it makes the collision =
inevitable resulting in a sad image indeed.  Compare this to "Turtle =
Crossing" in this competition, where the outcome is definitely not =
known.
