High marks for the concept.  I had never even considered the whole mathematical
approach to viewing this image until I read your explanation.  A few
suggestions for this image... Try varying the color scheme a bit in order to
add some variety.  Also, try working with the lighting to prevent some hard
shadows which can be seen on the spheres in the top right and bottom left.
