Lacks the photorealism created by other more 
experienced raytracers, but it's a very good for a first 
"full" image.  The only thing I would say looks awkward 
is the window, because the scene outdoors looks almost 
more like a painting since there's nothing there to really 
suggest depth (both the sky and sea textures look 
almost uniform out to the horizon).

Pros: Promising first entry! Nice composition. Interesting interpretation of the
topic. Keep up the good work!
Cons: As you stated yourself, textures and modelling could use some improvement,
since the scene tends to look too flat.
