I like the idea of the power of sunlight in dark places and you did a good job
in modeling the window and the sunbeam.  I like that you made your own trees
instead of relying on a macro -- but they look strange.  I think it is the
scale.  With them so small, I expect to see saplings, not trees with full
crowns.

Nice work creating the room and lighting effects.  I 
suspect the patchiness of the lighting on the walls is 
due to poor radiosity quality, but as you mentioned, the 
scene was already taking a long time to render.  A slight 
yellowish light would also have better suggested 
sunlight.
