Your description is very poetic but it doesn't help me understand what is
happening the scene.  being that close to the foot, a great deal of care is
needed to texture the skin.  You'll need a normal and some variation in the
color at the proximity.  Your sand texture is getting terribly stretched on the
left side of the image as well.  The model of the foot/leg is nice though.

Great picture.  That foot looks very good.  The sand texture works quite well,
though it looks a bit stretched on the left of the picture.  Well, lit, and
nice focal blur effect.
