Good concept, poorly executed. It's just way to plain and simple. A better
texture for the box would be a good start. And the question mark is too
obvious...show us the mystery without resorting to obvious symbols. For
instance, perhaps you could have shown the lid of the box cracked open
slightly, with light streaming out from inside? That would have been
mysterious, without the need for the question mark...

I like the box. The stripes on the question mark don't quite cut it. Maybe a
candy cane instead...

This is a very simple scene.

Simple but incisive. PB

too simple, sorry

From info@michaelscholz.de:
A single box could look much more mysterious if it had a
good design and propper textures. Think about treasure
chests and other secret containers from fairytales and
adventure novels. Then you wouldn't need a
questionmark and strange turbulence.

From the_dark_allies@hotmail.com:

You may want to watch out for the roughed edges, such as on the disk and
question-mark. They don_t look so smooth. Also watch out for compression
artifacts.

From glenn@mccarters.net:
This certainly distills "mystery" down to its minimal elements. Even in =
a very very simple image like this one, paying attention to detail is =
important. For example, adding a real locking latch to the box would be =
a great improvement over a simple sphere. Textures and lighting could =
definitely be improved: since the single light source is close to the =
camera, the shadow from the box is not visible. This makes the box =
appear to be floating, not connected to the blue surface.
