Nice picture. All the objects and textures are good. It might be nice if there
were a few imperfections on things, bumps/scratches on the table, the
marshmallows melting into the chocolate, etc.

My biggest criticism would be the lighting: it's hard to do convincing interiors
without radiosity, since in a real room there's a lot of light bouncing off the
walls and objects. This would help add warmth to the scene. To do this I
suggest either upgrade to megapov or pov 3.5, or fake the effect using lots of
dim light sources positioned around the scene. Also area lights would help
remove those harsh shadows.

Very good for a first attempt.

Another nice and cozy scene. The modeling on the fireplace tools is
nice, as well as the fireplace itself. The room however looks a bit bare.
Either a window viewing the cold outside, or some picture frames on the barren
walls could of helped add charm as well as another chair.
The chair could do with a little more antique shape, and the wooden
textures could be replaced with something more realistic. In the future, in a
scene like this you may want to add depth blur to focus the viewer onto your
main element such as the fireplace.

I really like your take on the theme!
For a little, hopefully constructive, criticism, the walls are really bright and
bare and the lighting seems a little harsh. Overall though, I think its a nice
image and you need to stick with it.

I liked your interpretation of the theme.

Some nice modelling, but textures, particularily normals, need work.

This is a pretty decent entry, but it should have been framed better - a more
imaginative camera angle. However, the main error is the lighting - it makes
the image far too cold and bright. I suggest lighting the room primarily from
the fire. Your technical skills are good.

Nice fireplace tools

Like the clock and the candle sticks. The walls and
ceiling could use some texture. The logs could be varied
more, add some knots or wait until 3.5 in complete and
use isosurface.

From quinet@gamers.org:
Not bad for a first entry. Even if you say that "it won't be as good as many
other entries," this is still better than many others. Here are two
suggestions:
- The light is much too bright. In a room like this, most of the light should
come from the fire and from the two candles, so that you have more
interesting
shadows. Using area lights will slow down the rendering but you will get
  smoother and more realistic shadows.
- You should put some grainy texture on the walls (as a pigment or as a
normal).
Perfectly flat and smooth walls are not realistic. The walls can be flat and
can even be white, but they should at least have some normal perturbation to
  give them some grain.

From peter@table76.demon.co.uk:
It's way better than my first attempt. One thing that seems to help with
scores
is an impression of more space - to avoid a window and having to model the
outside
world, you could hang a mirror on the wall, to reflect more of the room. If
the
mirror went on the right wall, you might not even need to model much more.
