something a bit artificial and unsatisfying about the planets. Perhaps some
atmospheric halos and improved textures would be of use in improving them.

I like the atmospheric type effect that you've created in 
the scene.  The planet textures look okay, but the 
edges where the landmasses meet ocean are too 
smooth.
