IMAGE DESCRIPTION:
This image presents a nocturnal view of 3 scorpions, at some
african
desertic area. I wanted to make something with scorpions just
because
I like those animals, and after a Discovery Channel's program
this
idea came to me. In my country, Colombia, people use the word
"Alacran"
                  to say scorpion.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

This image is my first POV-Ray work, and just contains two different objects,
the scorpion
 and the stone.

 1. OBJECT MODELLING: The scorpion and the stone were modelled using Blob
Sculptor, and although the program
exports POV files, I exported the objects as
.raw objects and converted them to POV using Crossroads
just because
I did not like the way they looked when I exported them as
POV
                      blobs.
 2. SCENE COMPOSITION: The scene was created using POV-Ray. I saved the POV
files generated
by Crossroads as INC files, so I just had to call the
objects in the
final POV file, then I placed them in the space and put a
plane as
the floor. I tried several textures, and when I found I
did not like
any, I modified several to create the ones I used here,
and some more,
all the textures used here are grey, the brown look is
given by the
                       light.
 3. RAYTRACING: The image was generated by POV-Ray, as a 800x600 image using
anti aliasing.
It took just 21 minutes to render. After that I used Corel Photo
House to
add the caption and save the image as a JPG file.

The source files include the .pov and .inc files that I used to create the
image, including
 all the textures.

Note: If you need the .dxf version of the scorpion, please e-mail me. There is
