IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

Sure, mass-destruction and war are spectacular, but they must not let
us forget that the main cause for ruin is time... and neglect.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

I got the idea pretty late, so I was a little rushed to make this image.
The main consequence is that I've got two versions, none of which satisfies
me (best would be somewhere in the middle) and no time to render another :(

Anyway, I think it's interresting to note that there's nearly nothing flat
in the pic: most of everything are isosurfaces (including the walls, the only
exceptions are the planks in the heap and the stones of the arch and window
frame, the planks in front *are* isosurfaces too and so is the altar although
it doesn't show much). This plus radiosity and media (I love method 3!) along
with antialiasing (method 2, depth 2) and the fact that I had to remove
auto-bouding and make do with manual bounding boxes (otherwise the radiosity
didn't work right) justifies the long render time. Moreover, to subtly
increase realism (did it work?), the positionning of everything was slightly
randomised (except for the stone and two planks in front...)

Only thing left to point out is that the texture for the stones was adapted
from the standard include file (T_Stone34), the rest is entirely original and
created for this image, including the code for creating an archway.
