Erm, hmm. After reading the description, I was hoping to see Mario in
the scene. The concept is nice, going to a great deal of effort arranging
3D objects to get the desired 2D appearance.

Unpleasantly simple: no subjects in this kingdom?

From Alain.Culos@bigfoot.com:
No, not everyone knows this game and I personally never heard about it before,
but hey I'm not a computer game person (well, not so much).
That does not mean I did not find it interesting.
Maybe you could have cut down on text, too verbose.
Certainly a good on topic one and nice technical tricks.
Simple enough but efficient. Well, it looks simple but surely must have taken
some effort in doing.

I *knew* it looked familiar... :-)

Better than the original !

This is a good start on the basic concepts of
Constructive Solid Geometry. All images start this way,
the winners of the competition just keep going and
adding more detail. Try experimenting with more
textures and check out the normal statement. I expect
your next entry will be greatly improved

From ethelm@bigfoot.com:
Good concept but not recognizable if you are not
familiar with Mario.

From clem@dhol.com:
Feh. An imaginary world of your own, no matter how
"lame", would have been a far better choice than just
copying a (copyrighted) scene from a video game.

From mar@physics.usyd.edu.au:
Hmmmm. I've never seen Mario World. Had no idea what this was until I read the
text file. Just looks like a few shiny simple shapes to me.

I am a big fan of the Mario games so I loved this picture :-). The plastic-look
is very well done.
Notable for textures, lighting, originality
