That planet texture job is absolutely incredible.  You also did a great
job modeling the marine, and the red media object with the blood blobs
was a creative and remarkably realistic effect.

On the downside, your heightfield is kinda weak, as well as the ring explosion

I like the burn marks in the flag, I think they're a nice touch. The atmosphere
around the blue planet is very convincing. The grey moon behind it suffers
a bit by comparison though, it seems a bit flat.

Really nice fire, there.  Fairly good compostition also.  The terrain could use
more texture, graininess maybe.  Too dark overall for a Marine ad.  Great laser
blast, though.

The thing I really like about this one is the perspective given to the picture
by proper placement of the earth and moon.
The other thing I really liked is the laser beam, nicely done, looks brilliant.
Pretty straight interpretation of the theme, but war stuff is not my cup of
tea.

It's a little hard to tell what just happened to the bloodied 
marine.  Is that explosion far out in space something that 
passed through him or her??  (Yes, I want all the details) 
;-)

Also, at least on my computer, the whole image is a little 
too dark for my taste.  I like that flag and the general 
feel of the picture, though.

Nice laser fire. Backlighting on the marines doesn't really work... it hides
all the details. The planet surface is a bit too smooth. And I don't really
understand the spray of blood at right... hardly conducive to signing up!
Pluses: the planets.. nice explosion and good atmosphere on the big blue one.
