Very pretty but you don't even try to make a connection
with the topic.

Apart from fractal texture, clouds, and a nice water ripple, there is not much
to this scene - I think something more is necessary to evoke an impression of a
'first encounter'. I like the fractal, but a 'plain' patterned pyramid does
not (to me) imply a first encounter with aliens, especially lacking anything to
have a first encounter WITH the pyramid.

Very off topic.

No encounters here.... at least that I can see.

Ripples around the base of the ship would help.

The sky, the sea and pyramid textures are good but the
subject and composition lack interest and tell no story.

Nice clouds.

From clem@dhol.com:
Very marginal for topicality. If you want to call that an
alien ship ok, but a) it seems contrived and b) it is just
there. No "encounter" is really occurring. The image
doesn't support itself as far as the idea goes. In any
case, this is a pretty study in blue considered by itself.
The silvery gray continents play well against the blues
and whites of the water and sky, as well as the rest of
the pyramid, The fact that the shape is a pyramid
instead of a sphere or torus or flat archipelago adds
nothing visually or thematically and as such is an
esthetic flaw.

Good water and sky, but the picture is rather abstract and hard to connect with
the theme.

Nice texturing job on the pyramid object. Although I totally see how this fits
into first encounter, this image has potential to be a winner. Nice clouds!
Notable for originality, textures
