IMAGE DESCRIPTION:

This image was inspired by a windmill I saw on the internet.
I cannot locate the original web page, however, I have included the
picture with my source code.

When the topic was announced, I began brainstorming from the four
primeval elements (namely earth, air, wind, and water) and came up
with the idea for a windmill.

DESCRIPTION OF HOW THIS IMAGE WAS CREATED:

The entire image was created by hand (I am not one who particularly
enjoys modeling). I find the true enjoyment in the calculation of each
of the neccessary equations for the formation of each of the angles.

Some of the changes I made from the original picture would include the
mountains in the background, and the slightly transparent sails.

I started this image with simple primitives, to create each of the
different aspects of the windmill's base, and sails. Much of the scene
is created through the creative use of textures. For example, the brick
work on the windmill is not a bick texture, but a marble to which bumps
have been added, and which was scaled.

The trees were created through with the help of Sonya Roberts Tree Include
File located on her web page. Most of the trees were each tested individually
and then were scaled, rotated, etc, as were needed.

The mountains in the background were created with the help of Terrain
Maker. The image map was modified by hand, then placed as a heightfield
in the background.

There is (believe it or not) a signature on the picture, in the lower right
corner, in the bush, hidden in the shadows, for which I used Paint Shop
Pro v.5
