I got more out of your dissertation on whisky than the image, hopefully you'll
have time to finish it!

This brought back many memories of a time when I worked in a distillery myself,
The Glenlivet.
A 'still which I am sure you know lent its name to many imitators, wether they
were in near vicinity to the Livet or not.
Casks come in many shapes and sizes, all have different names,- hogsheads,
butts, puncheons They also all have metal hoops wrapped around their girth.
I really like this image and you may have inspired me to recreate a vision from
one of the old warehouses I worked in. Good luck.

Seems as bit too dark. I had to turn up my brightness to see the background...
but maybe that's my problem. Also I find the gray area below the window
distracting, is it a door or a window. The modeling of the bottle is very
nice.

If you could have created the outdoor portion of your image with a
heightfield, rather than an image_map, you may have picked up a couple of
extra points.

The landscape is stunningly realistic.... to realistic. I see from your
.txt file you used a photograph. Unfortunately, this is such an important
part of the scene a rendered landscape would have been better.

The bottle is very nicely done! The cask is also well done -- the
individual planks modeled instead of an agregate texture to "fake" them
is a nice touch. Overall, it is nicely done, but the bright outdoor scene
distracts from the interior view, and from the raytracing.

Other than that, however, a very nice job!

The image in the window looks like a poster, flat or 2 dimensional.

Creative interpretation. The whisky bottle looks great. the scene
outside the window is a little disappointing since it is scanned.

A very nice start on an image. The lighting is good, and the bottle modelling
and label are well done. Obviously, the barrels and building need quite a bit
of detailing. You need a clear shot glass to show off the whisky color (and
enhance the "ad" theme). Perhaps some barley, as well. Incidentally, as to
the barrels, if you consider oriental concepts, wood is considered an element.
In some quarters, so is ice (the chilling). This comment by clem@dhol.com.
