Very nice!  The flowers are an excellent "splash of color," as you put
it.  I love the ants, and the greens in the leaves and the background. 
The focal-blur works wonders for it, too.

The flowers seem a little bit plastic, though, I think.

Fine. Very fine. The pic format is a bit unusual, but needed here, and very
efficient for the image composition (that I like a lot). Very nice modelling
and texturing. Perhaps the greens are to similar and standard, but the overall
image is amazing.

resolution.... more pixels is always better here.

At 800x600, this could be a contender for top placing -- very impressive.

It looks like you chose a narrowed image size to keep the viewer's focus on the
ants. However, I think that could have been done and still take advantage of
the full 800X600 image size limits. Translation... Lovely image and I wanted to
see more of it! :{)

I really like the horizontal format of the image, but it's almost too
compressed.  A bit more top and bottom would help.  I also like the slightly
out-of-focus background, which helps keep your eye focused on the main objects
in the scene.
Wood textures need a little work, and the flowers seem a bit plastic, but most
textures are very good.

I like your use of a different image shape. It frames the image very nicely. The
