unless the rules changed, useing photoshop filters was against the rules.

A little too monotonous...

From gregj56590@aol.com:
Nice effect on the height field, but otherwise not much of an image.

nature?

From buck@cs.byu.edu:
The camera is well-placed--it gives a good sense of being "in" the
canyon.

However, you might consider adding more detail. The sky seems too dark
for the amount of light in the canyon, and the water seems pretty
dark--almost "syrupy".

From djconnel@flash.net:
Rendering a canyon is a good idea, and this one
has a lot of potential, but the texturing, lighting,
and modeling need some more work.

From bill@apocalypse.org:
not a bad start, but the scene need a lot more...

=====
From ethelm@bigfoot.com:
The water and sky are good but the canyon walls are strange
and unnatural.
Height fields from Fractint or PovRay textures would have been
better.

=====
From arcana@sinbad.net:
The water seems a fair touch too blue to reflect reality. A big difficulty with
heightfields is the way it looks when the camera is close to it. It's a nice
image, but is missing a lot of the tiny details that would make it a great
image. :{)

From gmccarter@hotmail.com:
Still needs a little work. How about adding a ship? Or an eagle?
Does the water have any transparancy at all? It looks like blue ink.

Nice composition. You might want to try a less orderly normal perturbation.
