Short: Without Frontier, space sim preview Author: Noro Uploader: me josefnemec cz Type: game/demo Version: 0.3.0 Requires: 68030+, AGA or RTG, 8 MB Fast RAM, hard disk Architecture: m68k-amigaos >= 3.0.0 A playable preview of Without Frontier, a space sim in development for the Amiga in the tradition of Frontier: Elite II. The second preview. New in this one: - people in the ports: whoever you talk to has a face (rendered from MakeHuman models), moves their lips, blinks and looks pleased, cross or wary as the haggling goes - the planets in their own colours: Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto - landing on planets and moons: ports on the ground and under it - ships coming and going around the stations - faster on the 68040 (the Solar System's bodies, the stars, the cockpit) The year is 2279. You get a ship, a little money and the Solar System: the planets on their real orbits and ports from Earth orbit out to Pluto. - filled 3D on the game's own engine: fixed point, no FPU needed, hand written 68k inner loops - AGA (chunky to planar) or graphics cards (Picasso96 / CyberGraphX) - Newtonian flight with a set-speed throttle, autopilot and time warp - ports with a market, a shipyard, a bar with jobs and talk, in orbit and on the ground - pirates, police, customs, fines - and arcade machines in the bars - maps of the system and of the stars around - English and Czech - everything can be done with the mouse The hyperdrive is locked in this preview; the other stars come with the full game. This is work in progress: saved games may not carry over. Start WithoutFrontierSetup, choose the screen and press Start. See README.txt in the drawer for the controls. Programs for the 68030, 68040 and 68060 are in the archive; the Setup picks the right one. PiStorm and Vampire run the 68040 one. WE ARE LOOKING FOR PEOPLE: graphic artists (2D and 3D), sound designers and musicians who would like to help make an Amiga space sim. Write to the uploader's address. Bug reports with WithoutFrontier.log and WithoutFrontier_report.txt are welcome at the uploader's address. email: me@josefnemec.cz
